What a week?!! My first blog since MaKenna was born. This is quite a show of the progress we have made this week. When we first arrived home, MaKenna was 22 hours old. I was aware of the cluster feedings that would be necessary the next 24 hours or so but unaware that she would not sleep in between them unless she was being held. Had it not been for Ken and my mom, I don't think I would have made it on the lack of sleep and emotional roller coaster of hormones shooting through me. Things improved Thursday after my mom sleep with MaKenna on the couch Wednesday night in between feedings. Thursday night, I sleep on the couch with MaKenna and I slept much better than I had since arriving home with her. Friday, MaKenna began to allow us to lay her in her bouncer or swing and put her down when she fell asleep instead of crying or waking up like she had done previously. She is now sleeping next to our bed in a baby carrier that looks much like a car seat. It is padded, holds her snug, and she seems to like it. As a result of this wonderful baby carrier/ sleeper, I have slept the last two nights and it has been wonderful.
MaKenna has become a content and wonderful baby. She eats every 3-4 hours and sleeps much of the time in between. When she is awake she coos and looks around with her big hazel eyes (at least we think they are going to be hazel but we have to wait and see). She is very sweet and likes to cuddle with her daddy.
Ken is a great daddy. Even though he swore he wouldn't change any diapers especially the messy ones, he is the first to volunteer to do so. My mom leaves early tomorrow morning. We have been really thankful that she has been here to help us. We would have gone crazy without her. Thanks mom! Thanks Tim! I know she has missed you terribly. Thanks to everyone who called, texted, emailed, and commented on the previous blogs, and stopped by. We appreciate them.
Ken and his baby girl.
Dressed for church to go hear Papa Bud sing his solo and watch Grandma Fay's Christmas special.
One of my first Christmas gifts.
My first sponge bath and the cute towel from Nate & Steph.
Don't I look sweet?
I love tummy time. Rascal watches over me to make sure I'm okay.
After a full meal.
Snug as a bug in a rug.

Yeah! the first week is the hardest. She's such a cute little girl - you guys are such proud parents. Can't wait to meet MaKenna tomorrow!
She is ADORABLE!! The sleeping gets better...and hormones too...praise the Lord you still have family in town. Sleep away whenever you can. A rested mom is a happy mom and a happier baby! Miss you tons. Wish I were there with you.
Great job! I loved seeing so many sweet pics of her. You guys got some really good ones!
